Transportation, Logistics and Drone

The 180-hour professional truck driver training program prepares students for entry level driving positions within the trucking industry.

The program goes beyond preparing students for the State of Missouri or Kansas Commercial Driver's License Class A performance exam. It prepares graduates for a challenging and rewarding career in the trucking industry.

The outcomes of the program are directly linked to the federal guidelines established for entry level drivers, which can be found in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation (FMCSR) and the state guidelines for earning the Class A commercial driver's license.

In addition to classroom training, hands-on training is provided to each student to ensure comprehension and skill development of the various CMV operating procedures required by the state.

Careers

Most truck drivers find employment in large metropolitan areas or along major interstate roadways where trucking, retail and wholesale companies tend to have their distribution outlets. Some drivers work in rural areas providing specialized services. Career possibilities include:

• Over the road driver (OTR Driver)
• Linehaul driver
• Delivery driver
• Owner-operator
• City driver
• Flatbed driver/Flatbed truck driver
• Pickup and delivery driver (P&D driver)

Student requirements

• 21 years of age
• Have a valid operator's license
• Pass the DOT drug screen and physical
• Meet federal requirements to work in the career field
• A clean motor vehicle report (MVR) driving record
• Be able to attend scheduled classes

This course examines the movement of information and products through the supply chain and provides foundational knowledge for front line workers in warehouse operations.

This course also gives participants training in forklift safety fundamentals, basic instruction in forklift operation and hands-on driving experience in a warehouse setting under supervision.

Successful completers will earn an OSHA-10 certification.

This comprehensive course covers the main functions of supply chain logistics, including: Warehousing and Distribution, Inventory and Transportation Management, Order Processing and Supply Management. In addition, participants will delve into topics such as risk management, sustainable supply chains, reverse logistics, block chain integration and the Internet of Things.

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), commonly known as a drone, is piloted remotely by a human operator or (semi)-autonomously.  These devices are used in more and more areas of our lives. According to the Drone Industry Insights 2020 report, the worldwide drone industry is predicted to increase at a 13.8 percent CAGR to $42.8 billion by 2025.

The Part 107 Remote Pilot Training (and exam preparation) Course is the first step. In order to fly a drone under the FAA’s Small UAS Rule (Part 107), you must obtain a Remote Pilot Certificate from the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration).  

This course will cover the material required to demonstrate that you understand the regulations, operating requirements and procedures for safely flying drones. This course prepares participants for the FAA Certification test. You do not need to have a drone to take this class. The instructor will provide information regarding where the certification can be taken at an additional cost.
